Some dismissed it as an April Fool’s day hoax. The news that the anti christ superstar Marilyn Manson (but known as Brian to his mum. Probably) is to front a new Saint Laurent campaign didn’t really impact the fashion world until today. It’s since been confirmed by Vogue as being technically correct, which makes it now fashion gospel.
Saint Laurent with creative director Hedi Slimane at the helm is suddenly very interesting. This isn’t the first time she’s looked to musicians to showcase the apparel- beady eyes would have noted already that it’s Beck in the SS13 campaign shots. But this collaboration hints at showcasing why the union between fashion and rock and roll is so enduring. The eyeliner, the leather, the pallid complexion- it’s bold. It’s daring.
